MD Aesthetica and Dr.Lyos are proud to be the busiest clinic in Texas with this revolutionary face and neck tightening procedure by Bovie that utilizes plasma energy. Skin is lifted and tightened, jowls are reduced and the jawline is defined in a quick and simple outpatient procedure, without general anesthesia. J-Plasma Skin Tightening is now one of our most popular procedures here.

WHY SUBDERMAL J-Plasma Skin TIGHTENING?

  • Experience greater results with less surgery
  • Convenient in-office procedure
  • Takes about an hour
  • Done with local anesthesia
  • Virtually no visible incisions

WHAT IS SUBDERMAL TIGHTENING?

Unlike traditional facelifts which have large incisions and long recovery, Dr. Lyos‘ subdermal tightening technique uses tiny incisions made under the chin and by the ears and the lipo is gently threaded under the skin where the energy safely and effectively removes fat while tightening the treated area. The heat actually stimulates your body’s own natural healing ability and starts building new collagen. Dr. Lyos then uses plasma energy to sculpt and tighten loose skin though the jawline and neck creating firmer skin and a more youthful look. An invisible suture is placed within the SMAS facial muscle to help maintain lift and achieve a natural looking result. The entire procedure takes about two hours and then you are back home. With just days of downtime, the Subdermal Tightening procedure allows patients to be back to their normal routines much faster than a traditional facelift. Results are seen immediately and continue to improve as your body continues to heal.

WHAT IS PLASMA ENERGY?

Plasma energy is truly the fourth state of matter. We are familiar with liquids, gases, and solids and now plasma. Plasma energy replaces traditional laser energy such as Co2 laser by being able to deliver a more precise and controlled thermal energy. Just like the higher quality higher definition images of new TVs, plasma energy is able to give a higher quality effect in tightening skin and reducing fine lines while using less energy than a traditional Co2 laser. Plasma is not a laser and is able to reach only a fraction (120 degrees Celsius) of the temperature of traditional Co2 (800 degrees Celsius), while delivering twice the result. The secret lies within the helium molecule that is electrified which thereby creates the plasma energy.

PROCEDURE INFORMATION

Our team will assist you with all of the information you need for exceptional results with your subdermal tightening. Dr. Lyos will address all of your concerns ahead of time and discuss what your desired results are. He will also explain his techniques and anesthesia options. Prior to your procedure, Dr. Lyos recommends you discontinue the use of products containing aspirin, garlic, ginseng, green tea and vitamin E for two weeks, as they may increase the risk of bruising. J-Plasma skin tightening is a safe and effective procedure.

J-Plasma PREPARATION INFORMATION

Dr. Lyos can perform your subdermal tightening very simply as an outpatient procedure. Dr. Helliwel will mark the areas to be treated, then make a couple of very small incisions. A local anesthetic is used to numb the area and then the J Plasma is threaded through a small tube and into the incision site. Using a gentle heat skin elasticity and naturally thickens your skin. Next, the plasma energy is used for instant tightening of the skin and incredible cellular rejuvenation. Dr. Lyos’ proprietary technique includes an invisible stitch that is threaded into the SMAS layer of the facial tissue. While the stitch will dissolve, the scar tissue left behind will keep the lift Dr. Lyos created in place.

POST TREATMENT INFORMATION

Dr. Lyos and his team will check in with you after your procedure. It is normal for your face and neck to feel a bit tight or sore after the procedure. Minor discomfort can be treated with over the counter Tylenol.

Initial swelling and bruising can take one to two weeks to resolve. Bruising varies from person to person; it reaches its peak during the first week. The compression head garment should be worn every night for six weeks after your procedure. The full results of the subdermal tightening are dependent on your body’s own natural collagen production and can take several months to become stable, but early results are immediate and continue to improve as your body continues to heal.

HOW IS THE PROCEDURE DONE?

At the offices of  Dr.Lyos , we take great pride in providing safe and comfortable anesthesia during any procedure. For J-Plasma Facial Rejuvenation, an oral sedative is given, then the entire face is anesthetized with a local anesthetic. Once the face is fully numb, the J-Plasma stream is applied directly to the skin until the whole face is completed. The superficial layer of skin is then wiped off and a second pass of plasma is performed to contract the next skin layer. This results in an overall facial tightening that truly restores a youthful appearance. No incisions are made and only a single treatment can last years!

How is THE J-Plasma RECOVERY?

This is the most important question surrounding this procedure. Achieving incredible results requires deep treatment of the facial skin. As a result, facial skin will be red and typically peels and crusts for about one week, followed by the emergence of brand new skin during the second week. By the end of two weeks, the skin remains pink, but looks smooth and clear of blemishes. At this time, light makeup can be applied. Detailed instructions are provided at each follow up visit as individuals differ in the healing process.

WHAT ARE POTENTIAL COMPLICATIONS?

As with any operation, Dr. Lyos takes a full history and physical exam to make sure you are an appropriate candidate for this procedure. In patients who have darker skin tones, caution is take to prevent hyperpigmentation after the treatment. This is done by sun avoidance prior to treatment, as well as the use of skin bleaching agents, such as hydroquinone. Post-operative pain is variable between patients and treated with oral medication. In some cases, redness may be prolonged and an antiinflammatory medication such as a corticosteroid may be used.

IS J-PLASMA BETTER THAN SURGERY?

Aging skin is determined by blemishes, brown spots, fine lines, and large wrinkles. In many cases, a facelift or brow lift are needed to tighten loose, hanging, droopy skin. There is no way around that. However, those procedures do not take care of the skin surface itself, and that is why additional skin treatments, such as laser or chemical peels, are often needed to complete the rejuvenation process. What J-Plasma Facial Rejuvenation provides is a non-surgical alternative that truly combines both processes in one, for the right individual, of skin clearing and skin tightening. For many, that’s enough to achieve a youthful appearance. For patients with very loose skin, heavy jowls and full necks, surgery may still be required to achieve ideal results. But that decision can be made with an open, honest discussion with Dr. Lyos at your consultation.
